Monash University policy and procedures approval delegations

The university’s operations fall broadly into two categories: academic and management, although there may be overlap in some cases. The approval process for university-wide policies and procedures aligns with this broad division and with the institution’s organisational structure.

  • academic policies require the approval of Academic Board (the ultimate academic body), following endorsement by the relevant penultimate body or position;
  • management policies require the approval of the Strategy and Resources Committee (the ultimate management body), following endorsement by the relevant penultimate body or position.

Where a policy has both academic and management implications, it will be submitted to both Academic Board and the Strategy and Resources Committee. The policy will be approved by the body to whom the policy is more relevant, and endorsed by the body to whom the policy is less relevant.

In some cases, policies will be approved by the University Council.
